One more post!

while I am at it I thought I'd add a few more pictures - here is the latest.
this is the walkabout I was telling you about....a day in the desert identifying plants.

John was really getting into it!

On Saturday morning the beach residents all met at a Hotel in town for brunch!  We were honoring our friends Jerri & Norm for providing internet use on the beach.

Here is the gang!

More old news .... the last few weeks' activities

The next event was our trip into a ‘secret’ bay (Chris, I promise not to tell anyone!) about 50 km south of here.  We had two groups of travelers, the day trippers and the overnighters….we were in a group of 5 vehicles for a day trip to do some kayaking in this beautiful bay.  Unfortunately it was windy and the kayaking was not as good as it could be.  We did manage to paddle against wind and waves to this beautiful beach – yes it was worth the paddle.

This morning we took a guided nature hike– we spent a couple of hours learning more about the local plants, trees, cactus, shrubs….and how some adapt to survive in the desert. Lots of great information;  thanks to our leader Debra.

the usual daily routine....

Pedro's (on the right) birthday celebration!  the boys are up to the usual fun......

Here is some old news - this shows the water in the dinghy after the rain.
After the rain - it took at least a week for this to dry up.

Here are a couple of pictures of my shell garden - a small display this year, not much shelling happening.

John has chores to do - the worst of all - emptying the black water tank!!! yuck....

 Daily shopping with the vendors.

Birds snacking on the oranges we put out.

Of course kayaking on the calm days.

another road trip

Off we go again - this time to San Javier, a small town in the mountains, where the second oldest mission in the baja still stands.  Once again a beautiful trip to a beautiful destination.. the photos are of the Mision and the surrounding area.  We spent some time wandering around the grounds, looking for the 380 year old olive tree, the irrigation systems which are still in use after hundreds of years.  So much history here.

the main street is cobble stones -

A stop along the way to look out over Loreto and the Sea of Cortez

more GREAT news

Here is a picture of John the other day, he is reading some great news on my great little ipod..the news is John is a GREAT grandpa!  Congratulations Eric and Corrie - welcome Michaela.
